Fazekas and I were in Miami for the fabulous Sunglass
Hut Swim Shows (July 15 – 18, 2006) and when
I was not actually at the show I constantly found
myself wandering in and out Miami’s eclectic
and trendy boutiques. But what would an out-of-town
venture be without a little thrift-free shopping?
It was hot and trooping through
the heat to search for some unique and jazzy wardrobe
pieces was a real bitch, but it was definitely time
(and money) well spent. Hey, somebody has to find
the hot stuff for you! So for all of you style savvy
shoppers, here is a taste of Miami.
BARUCCI
750 Ocean Drive
Miami Beach, Fl
The only thing more alluring than
this store’s glamour-glazed apparel and accessory
lines is the steady traffic of dauntingly good-looking
gentlemen who shop here. Unfortunately this Ocean
Drive treasure chest does not provide a dating service,
but they do house some of the hottest names in luxury
clothing for men and women. Some of the designer
bigwigs that grace the racks at Barucci’s
are: Versace; Roberto Cavalli; and D&G. But
even more enticing are the sensuous fabrics and
artistic detailing of the quirky design concepts
of French-born Miami-based designer Ema Savahl.
Sevahl’s signature hand-painted halters and
dresses are encrusted with genuine Swarovski crystals
and have caught the attention of stylists and celebrities
such as, Paris Hilton, Janet Jackson and Lil’
Kim. Although Barucci’s prices range from
expensive to luxury, it’s a great place to
check out the latest in fashions and trends—and
don’t forget the eye candy ladies!
Venissac
VENISSAC
1627 Washington Avenue
Miami Beach, FL 33139
This jaunty collection of men
and women’s ready-to-wear exemplifies the
infamous “Miami look” with crisp linen
blazers, shirts and dresses that will keep you cool
while you rummage about this sun drenched city.
While the store’s interior décor is
kept to a minimum, the walls do exhibit the photographs
of some of the city’s local talents. The rich
melody of colors and paisley prints that adorn these
fabulous suits and frocks speak volumes in terms
of artistic aptitude and style. Venissac clothing
and accessories are priced moderately and can be
viewed online at: www.venissac.com
OYUKI
919 Collins Avenue, Ste. 3
Miami Beach, FL 33139
Miami Beach’s newest edition
in women’s RTW has a playful flirty vibe that
speaks to the little “girlie” in us
all. Here you can find soft cotton tees, rhinestone
embellished accessories and fierce handbags by designers
like James Coviello, Mint Collection and 2B Accessories.
Browsing through
the neatly folded and perfectly placed inventory
may be a little intimidating, but do not fear—Oyuki’s
staff is super friendly and provides service with
a smile! And there are so many cute and collectible
pieces that even the finickiest shopper can find
something here. Prices range between moderate-expensive.

LEO
640 Collins Avenue
Miami Beach, FL 33139
Miami Beach’s most visited
boutique is chock-full of the hippest names in designer
duds. Leo brings the ambiance of SoHo to South Beach
with its chic and comfortable décor and hot-off-the-runway
looks by designers like: Heatherette; Buddhist Punk;
Foley; Imitation of Christ; and Missioni. The prices
are on the high end, but the quality and style of
their collections will last for seasons to come
– trendy to classic to vintage. You can check
out the latest trends and shop their online store
by logging on to: www.leomiami.com.
