Red Carter’s jazzy collection of swimwear and accessories are synonymous with Miami’s mix of culture and style. But on November 15th, Miami’s king of swim showed New York a thing or two about the bathing suit biz during the grand opening of Carter’s newest showroom , Salon 9, located in the heart of New York’s Fashion District.

The event was flooded with marketers, press and friends of Carter who received a double dose of pleasure as they sipped overflowing glasses of a delicious blend of Imperia Vodka and pomegranate juice. Carter was almost unrecognizable as he worked the room in a tailored suit, a chic divergence from his usual hip, idiosyncratic style. Carter was astonished by the huge turn out of. “ I did not expect this many people to show up tonight… [my guests] have been so supportive and I’m just glad to see that everyone is having such a good time, “said Carter.

The atmosphere at Studio 9 was a cool mix of beach bum paradise and psychedelic funk. Studio 9 also functions as an art gallery for contemporary artists like Emily Auchincloss, who’s serene and thought inspiring paintings are currently gracing the walls. There was a bit of a buzz going around the room about Red Carter showing during the Fall Fashion Week shows this coming February. But, according to Carter’s rep Alexa Cahill, plans for a February fashion show are not official at this point.
