The Tents at Bryant Park

Just in time for
Valentine's Day, Zang Toi told us a tale of opulence,
romance and sensuality. The mood was set from the
moment we entered the tent with its huge background
posters of what appeared to be a smiling Marie Antoinette;
it was further enhanced when the young stars of
TV's Laguna Beach kissed for the cameras as Cole
Porter's Love For Sale played in the background.
And what could be more fitting than to see luxury
lover Donald Trump's two stars, Miss Universe and
Miss USA, sitting on the front row, only slightly
upstaged by the smooching Lagunies.
And then the show started and
Zang Toi owned the runway. The clothes were spectacular
gorgeous creations fashioned from fur, velvet and
wool. Told mostly in a palette of black and grey,
the show also featured sophisticated violet wool
dresses and two exquisite ball gowns in pink and
lavender, both with turtle neck sweater tops.
Glamour strode the runway. The
model sported sophisticated upswept hair dos as
they walked the runway to the musical accompaniment
of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite. Visions
of Sugar Plum fairies were definitely in the air.
The climax of the show was Toi's stunning black
evening dress with a diamond collar necklace. Absolutely
