Rockers Rock To Benefit Broadway Cares and Raise over $5,000

On a hot July night in a hot steamy hot room, three hundred plus happy revelers crowded together to help raise money for Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS. It truly a "hot" night, full of the best Broadway stars plus some real rockers.

Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees
Host Donnie Kehr

The night's host, Donnie Kehr, said “ It's our mission to bring together the worlds of Rock 'n' Roll and Broadway in a unique and inspiring way, while supporting an important cause, Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS.”

Real Rocker Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees had fun with the audience and the other rockers, kidding with fellow rocker Davy Jones when Jones's mike was too low. He then blew me away with "Gimme Some Lovin'." He also sang "I’m a Believer." I’m a believer, Mickey!

Daniel Reichard of Jersey Boys
Peter Gregus of Jersey Boys
J Robert Spencer of Jersey Boys
Kathy Brier of Hairspray
Michael Lanning of The Civil War
Jennifer Naimo of Jersey Boys
Tituss Burgess of Jersey Boys
Chris Thompson of Manfred Man
Patrick Wilson of The Full Monty,
Oklahoma and Phantom (the movie)
Steve Gouveia and Des McAnuff of
Jersey Boys

Some of the highlights of the evening were Chris Thompson singing his own version of West Side Story,"The Jet Song," and "Blinded by The Light" and Kathy Brier singing Janis Joplin's “A Little Piece of My Heart. And it was just that - a piece of Broadway's heart, rocking out for a good cause.
