POETIC LIESENSE
Club Coda
March 2, 2006

Chisa Hidaka of Poetic Liesense

Sometimes things happen for a reason and I shouldn’t question it. I stopped by Club Coda on Thursday, March 2, 2006 to checkout a friend’s performance and got swooped up by the evenings opening performance, Poetic Liesense.

Poetic Liesense

The band’s sound was wide and diverse; I kept expecting the usual only to get the unusual. Poetic Liesense lead vocalist, Chisa Hidaka, has an incredible sense of style. She descended the stairs, clad in a sheer dress and thigh-high boots, and then she dominated the stage in a style reminiscent of Marlene Dietrich. Her lyrical approach teeters to Bjork, shifts gears to a “Dead can Dance” (in the style of Jim Morrison) and then on to a bit of 1940’s European cabaret style.

The band worked its sound as one. They are: Rob Steckman on guitar (band leader); Justin Wood on flute/sax; Grant Smith-bass; and Blake Lindberg on drums. These boys jam in sync and carry an even flow even in their subtlest of moments.

Poetic Liesense definitely “got’s weight in the making” - check’em out!
