Alma
Warming Up the Heart of New York
February 26th, 2006
DEEP 16 W. 22ND Street
Written by Wendy R. Williams
Photographed by Mary Blanco

Alma conjured up the spirit of Brazil at Deep this Carnival Sunday. New York’s transplanted Brazilians (and their wannabes) brought in Mardi Gras the wild way, dancing with abandon to the smashing sounds of those Brazilian brothers of soul, DJ True and Miller Cruz of ALMA. Joining them to make the night even hotter was DJ Danny Krivit. The lights were flashing, the beats were relentless and dancers, representing every color of the rainbow, danced their hearts out, defying New York’s frigid cold and bringing the heart of Brazil to Manhattan.

It was hot, it was throbbing, it was Alma! Bravo!
