
The
opening ceremony kicking-off the 6th Annual Russian
Film Week film festival in New York was held at
Florence Gould Hall on October 13th. After the
red carpet was rolled up and people had had their
fill of free champagne and strawberries in the
reception hall everyone sat down to view the the
film Peregon ("Transit") - a drama set
during World War II depicting the lives of Russian
and American pilots who transport fighter aircrafts
from Alaska to Siberia, directed by Alexander
Rogozhkin. The guests of honor were Russian veterans
from various wars, mostly WWII, decked out in
full military regalia. The film festival showcases
some of the most highly acclaimed Russian films
from 2006. The films range from dark comedy and
historical drama to romance and action-adventure.
