There was a Mercury
Milan car on display in the Metropolitan Pavilion
and Nikon cameras on the runway at the Style Lounge
as Daniel Franco showed his Spring of 2007 line.
Mercury Milan and Nikon were just two of the corporate
sponsors who stepped up to the plate to give some
young designers a chance to show their lines at
the Style Lounge (an alternative venue to the mammoth
Olympus Fashion Week).
At the beginning
of the show, Franco thanked his sponsor Nikon and
told his hip young audience that he used the coolness
of Nikon as an inspiration when designing his line.
And indeed, many of his models strode the runway
with Coolpix in hand.
But the car and the
cameras were not the only sexy items on display.
Franco has designed a hot line of very wearable
dresses which sport plunging necklines and low-cut
backs. They have that casual chic look that would
be equally at home in the clubs of LA or the streets
of New York's East Village. It was utterly amazing
to see what Project Runway's Franco could do when
he had more than twenty-four hours to put together
a garment. This guy has talent!

On hand to cheer Franco on were
several Project Runway stars: Tim Gunnn:
Chloe Dao; Emmett McCarthy; Angela Keslar; and Marla
Duran. It was a mini Runway reunion.
