The only thing missing
at Malan Breton’s show was a Busby Berkeley
finale.
Folies, Mr. Breton’s first show post Project
Runway, was a true reincarnation of the dazzling
silk pajamas and siren satin gowns of the early
1930’s.
There were bias cut trousers a plenty, silk kimono’s
and silk chiffon blouses in cream, champagne, noir
and sepia. He has a flare for flou, or all things
breezy, sexy and fluttering.
There were dashes
of surprise like the cameo’s that appeared
on several belts and collars as well as pearls that
swung from jacket hems and vests.
The real stunners were a Schaperelli pink cape and
a silver beaded flapper spectacle that would have
made Zelda Fitzgerald swoon with delight.
