The theme for Pamella
DeVos’ collection for Pamella Roland was evident
upon seeing the waves on the walls. Devos explained,
“my travels to the Galapagos Islands inspired
this collection: the natural beauty of the islands
influenced every aspect of the design process.”
The metaphorical plane took off to paradise and
we were greeted by 1970’s flight attendant
looks, followed by relaxing dresses, sophisticated
swimwear and a finale of classic le smokings and
gowns that signaled our return to the city.
For most girls, the highlight
of the show was a variety of belted pantsuits and
shirtdresses that were well-accessorized and extremely
wearable. The elegant ivory silk gown and opera
coat that ended the show was lovely on a bronzed
model with sun-kissed hair, but many of DeVos’
show-stopping looks lacked relevance off the runway.
Key colors for this season included cream, camel,
grey, papaya orange and navy.
Though her segue into lightly
tropical ombre printed chiffon dresses and swimsuits
later in the show was jarring when juxtaposed with
the crisp khaki and grey linen of the first half,
the collection was as marketable as always, and
great for the Hamptons set. There was definitely
a clean and sporty look for almost every mood in
the Spring ’07 collection.
