Alexander Terexov’s
debut collection for New York Fashion Week proved
that a successful runway show can be built off of
one well-executed concept. His presentation of flowing
feminine silhouettes and fluid luxury fabrics consisted
entirely of wrap dresses for day and evening. Was
DVF an inspiration, or does Terexov desire to be
king of the wrap? In any case, winning looks included
an off-the-shoulder look with a deep-v back, and
a wrap with a plunging neckline, fluttery sleeves
and sash details. His color palette for Spring ’07
in black, optic white, lavender-grey and taupe was
flattering and sophisticated as well, mixed with
just the right amount of subtle prints in chiffon.
The backdrop for
the show was the newly minted UPS Hub tent, created
to showcase new global talent such as the Russian-born
Terexov. The only thing hotter than the dresses
was the designer himself, who has all the makings
of a celebrity. He is (1) young, (2) gorgeous, (3)
talented (trained at YSL) and best of all, he doesn’t
speak a word of English. Look for this up-and-comer
to be back next season dressing us for work, cocktail
hour and party time.
