Saturday, August 5th marked the launch of Amazon NYC’s exclusive weekend traveling parties, an opportunity for club-goers to kick-it like a VIP minus the restrictions of velvet rope hounds and “starry-eyed” scenesters.
Amazon’s goal is to bring fun and mystery back to the New York City club scene, which they believe is presently restricted to a narcissistic celebrity and A- list crowd. Amazon NYC aspires to provide chic urban professionals with a unique but friendly nightlife experience, filled with an eclectic mix of music, live entertainment and complementary drinks.
Amazon holds a theme party every Saturday night at a venue that is disclosed that evening on their website (www.amazonnyc.com). “Clubs are no longer throwing theme [parties] like they used to. The club scene today has gotten pretty dull and we want to send out a vibe that will awaken all the senses. So every Saturday we plan to throw a different theme [party],” said Evan Blast of Amazon NYC.
The Amazon NYC launch party was at Eugene’s at 27 West 24th Street. The party had a tropical theme with palm trees, skin-baring go-go dancers and complementary glasses of “jungle juice” (a tasty concoction of Bacardi rum and tropical fruit juice). DJ Liquid Todd (aided by celebrity guest Bobby Ewing) kept the crowd on their toes with a soulful blend of Hip-hop, R&B and house.
