New York City - New York Stories

What's Up For Today?

Iraq War Protest
September 19, 2006
Sixth Avenue
New York City

Photographed by Angelo Rivera

On September 19, 2006 a group of anti-war protestors marched up Sixth Avenue from 37th Street to 47th Street where they turned to go to the UN at 47th and First. And all along the route, protesters from all walks-of-life were chanting and shouting for peace. New York Cool photographer Angelo Rivera was on hand to catch these images.

The march was sponsored by United for Peace and Justice. Here is a quote from their website: "On Tuesday, September 19, President George W. Bush will be in New York City to deliver a defense of the disastrous Iraq War and the so-called "war on terror" to the United Nations -- and we'll be out in the streets to greet him! Join us as we call for all the troops to come home now and say NO to the Bush administration's endless war-mongering and occupation policy in the Middle East and attacks on our civil liberties at home." www.unitedforpeace.org
