The Gen Art Shop NYC event took place on December 5, 2008, with many Gen Art designer alums offering their collections at reduced sample sale pricing. Womenswear designers included H Fredriksson, Dagmar, Octopi, Marie Marie, naturevsfuture, Sunshine & Shadow and Mooka Kinney. There was something for everyone – clothing, jewelry, accessories and shoes. I got a great deal on two pairs of Lara Kazar wool legwarmers with leather trim for $100. Other accessory designers included Cammie Hill, Bliss Lau Bags & Belts, Driftwood, Digby and Iona, Lisa Levine Jewelry and Ashley Dearborn shoes. The event was a great opportunity to find out what the featured Gen Art designers are all about, and really find upcoming and unique brands that will be the next favorites on your list.

Aside from the shopping, there were a lot of other worthwhile courtesy booths to discover, including yummy, freshly baked Insomnia Cookies, Cote d’Or chocolate, Epson custom Blueprint wrapping paper and drinks provided by Baileys, Budweiser Select, Johnnie Walker and Imperia Vodka. Ecru provided hairstyling and Tweezerman provided free brow grooming and tweezing services. T-shirt brand Barking Irons were making tote bags and giving them away right on site. I don’t think anything was missing that night, with the presence of designers, shopping, cocktails, free services and music by DJ Kiss. I definitely look forward to attending this event again!
