Sugar, Spice
and All That is Nice
One collection that
should appear on every debutante’s wish list
this fall will be designer Chris Han’s; her
evening wear can be summed up in one word - lovely.
Han’s love of young elegance
is exhibited by her straight-cut dresses draped
with smooth chiffon. Wool cigarette pants with textured
leather pockets add and element of self-assured
chic to the line, while sheer peek-a-boo blouses
contributed an element of naughty but nice to the
show. Han’s faint use of shimmering metallics
kicked-up her fall color palate of pale pink, champagne,
ivory, grey, and black. Make-up (courtesy of Shannon
Grey Williams and the MAC Pro Team) gave a youthful
glow to the models who walked the runway in shoes
provided by Ruthie Davis.
While Han’s design concept
spoke in terms of refinement, oddly enough, the
music provided for the show gave an erotic impression
of a tropical rainforest eventually morphing into
a session of H&M’s greatest hits. Elvis
Costello’s, “Pretty Woman” would
have been a simpler, more coherent fit.
