When we asked Jason
Wu backstage to sum up his fall collection in one
word, he responded with “effortless.”
“This season is more of a Kate Moss effortless
cool. A
get out of bed and ready to go look,” explains
Wu. “Key colors include red, a golden mustard
yellow, metallic, navy and black. The day meets
night look is rendered in satin, with Manolo Blahnik
boots and buckles.” Makeup artist Lucia Pieroni
says for this collection, “to achieve that
black smudgy rock & roll Kate Moss out and about
look, the mascara is heavy on the eyes with contouring.”
“The hair is parted in the middle for that
return to grundge look,” says hair stylist
Jimmy Paul.
Jason’s
collection was dressed up this season, with basket
weave dresses and coats and a butter yellow silk
tulle and chiffon gown with jet mink coat as a key
look. Fabrics include brocade, cashmere, faille,
jersey, satin, organza and mink. Key details were
beaded collars, metallic buttons, quilted beading
and metallic and satin bodices. Must-have pieces
include coat dress with mink cuffs, empire dresses,
gold satin dress with pleated skirt with a jet mink
crop jacket, ¾ sleeve metallic or satin trench
coats and chiffon gowns. This collection is great
for any downtown girl ready to take on the nightlife.
