Fluid, loose and
unstructured are three words that come to mind when
looking at Marc Bouwer’s fall 2007 collection.
So many collections in recent seasons have been
focusing on structure, architecture and design.
Think old school Balenciaga.
But Marc is keeping
his women happy in flowing gowns in a muted palette
of black, ink, slate, creme and aubergine. Waist
lines were everywhere from empire to drop waist,
giving clients a welcome choice for fat days or
moms to be. Marc’s draping was impecable,
Halston would be proud, and the faux fur coats and
shrugs will come in handy for awards show chilliness
from weather or celebrities.
One must also applaud
Marc for being the first established designer to
shed wool, leather and fur from his collections.
