The Tents at Bryant
Park In yet another delightful runway presentation
for Fall 2007, Australian design duo Sarah-Jane
Clarke and Heidi Middleton fulfilled the girlish
fantasies of grown-up women everywhere.
Sass & Bide’s collection,
“The Lovehawk Season,” was created as
an expression of “relaxed luxury,” but
the sleek fabric and fun embellishments evoked a
1920’s vaudevillian act with a dash of Chicago
glitter. Based on the runways, top hats are the
party accessory for fall, and these were the chicest
ones- short and matte, slightly slouchy with curled
under brims. Sass & Bide got their big break
from denim, and this season they chose to show it
slim, high-waisted and dark indigo. Highlights included
simple, embellished minidresses and a flirty black
wool coat sparkled as can’t-miss items this
season. The only lows of the show were knit dresses
embellished with the number “8” for
no apparent reason and the blunder (ala Lacoste)
of including way too many berets on the runway.

gold

denim, metallic jersey and allover sequins
