The National Religious Leaders of
African Ancestry held their annual protest this
year to protest the genocide in Darfur. They met
in front of the United Nations and walked to the
Sudanese Embassy where they blocked the door. According
to the Amsterdam News: “Reverend Herbert Daughtry,
civil rights activist and esteemed pastor of the
House of the Lord Church in Brooklyn, along with
Reverends C. Herbert Oliver (Covenant Presbyterian
Church); Cheryl Williams (Wills of Salvation Christian
Center) and R.K. Smith, President of the New York
Chapter of Southern Christian Leadership Council
(SCLC) - aligned as the National Religious Leaders
of African Ancestry Concerned about Darfur - were
the four principals arrested.”
