It was Phantom of the
Opera time at Manhattan's Cipriani when El
Museo del Barrio held their annual ball. Manhattan
society, dressed to "the tens" in couture
ball gowns and tuxedoes, turned out to support El
Museo's drive to raise money for their extensive
new renovation.
Many of the ball-goers wore masks designed by some
of New York's premiere designers. These masks had
been purchased at an earlier auction
to benefit El Museo held at
Carolina Herrera's boutique.
The "Social Spaniards"
were out in full force as were fashion designers
like Carolina Herrera (the honorary chair of the
ball), Zang Toi, Gustavo Arrango and Narcisco Rodriguez.
Also present were the Gala Chairmen Yaz and Valentin
Hernández (with their charming son Valentin)
and Ruben and Isabel Toledo (the Toledos!) and the
Junior Committee Chairmen: Jana Pasquel; Samantha
Thompson; and Mayra Hernández Gonzalez. Honorees
at the ball were: Roberto and Claudia
Hernández; Altria Group, Inc.; and the Reed
Foundation.
It was a beautiful
mysterious night at one of Manhattan's most gorgeous
establishments, the magical Cipriani.
