ArtHaus for Fountain House gave a benefit party on
May 9, 2007 at New York’s super club, Marquee.
According to the Fountain
House Website, “Proceeds will benefit Fountain
House, an award-winning, 59-year old non-profit organization
that provides housing, employment, wellness and educational
services to men, women, and young adults living with
major mental illness. Fountain House helps some 1,300
people in New York City each year….. ArtHaus
will feature an exhibit and sale of limited edition
photography (including a portrait of Glenn Close)
by the famed fashion and celebrity photographer Francesco
Scavullo, along with work by the professional artists
of Fountain Gallery, a not-for-profit cooperative
representing nearly 40 artists living and working
with mental illness. All Fountain Gallery artists
are members of Fountain House, and they live with
bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia or other
chronic mental illnesses, as did Scavullo.”
