The Blue Moon Hotel is a colonial
wonder situated in the heart of Miami's South Beach.
The hotel is listed on the National Register of
Historic Places. Here is a quote from the hotel's
website about the history of the hotel: "The
Blue Moon is named after the song "Blue Moon"
which was written by Rogers and Hart. The name was
changed by Merv Griffin, the famous talk show host,
who owned the hotel at the time and was a big fan
of Rogers and Hart."
The hotel has prices that range from
under $100 to a high of $700 during Super Bowl Weekend
(but the New
Orleans Saints would have to be IN the Bowl
for the top price to apply). All the rooms feature:
wireless internet: private voice mail with two telephone
lines in each room; hair dryers and upscale European
amenities; CD player/clock radio; coffee maker;
in room movies; complimentary in-room safes; mini-bars;
cribs and smoking sleeping rooms available on request;
old-fashioned extra deep bath tubs; irons and ironing
boards; complimentary breakfast;and soft cotton
bathrobes.
When we stayed at the Blue Moon from
May 19-23, 2007, the clientele was mostly European
and South American tourists; they told us that they
found the hotel through their travel guides and
that it was highly recommended.
The hotel is quiet and well run and
is the perfect haven from the utter frolic of a
South Beach vacation. Good Choice!
