Auxiliary Police
Officer Nicholas T. Pekearo was murdered on Wednesday
night, March 14, 2007, in front of Demarco's Pizzeria
in Greenwich Village when a gunman chased him down
the street and killed him execution style. Pekearo
and fellow auxiliary police officer Eugene Marshalik
were trying to stop a gunman who entered the pizzeria
and started shooting.
On March 16, 2007
there was a viewing for Nicholas T. Pekearo at Reddens
Funeral Home for family and friends and New York
Cool photographer Angelo Rivera was on hand to take
these images. According to the Saturday March 17th
edition of the Daily
News, "Last night, about 1,000 NYPD officers
and auxiliaries, along with Police Commissioner
Raymond Kelly, streamed into Reddens Funeral Home
on W.14th St. to say farewell to Pekearo, who lived
and died in the neighborhood."
