Market, universally know as the Meat Packing District,
was the place for both two and four legged fashionistas
on Saturday, April 7, 2007 when Veuve Cliquot Rose
Champagne sponsored a Trunk Show. New York Cool
photographer Krisztina Fazekas attended and took
these photos with the guidance of expert tour guide,
Meat Packing District Initiative Executive Director
Annie Washburn.
Manhattan's Meat
Packing District is now the destination for the
ultra hip. It still retains its meat market ambiance
with actual meat slaughter houses mixed in with
the other type of meat market, the kind that takes
place at hot spots such as PM, Cielo and the roof-top
bar at the Gansevoort Hotel. And no daytime trip
to the Meat Packing District would be complete without
a trip to Jeffrey to see items like $700 pony skin
ballet flats or a dash into Stella McCartney to
check out just which fashions H & M will reinterpret
next.
Saturday's event
was a chance to visit the ultra trendy boutiques
of the District. It was also a chance to attend
Kwigy-bo K9 Couture's doggie
fashion show at Michael Angelo’s Wonderland
Beauty Parlour at 418 W 13th Street. And no, the
Wonderland Beauty Parlour is not a dog grooming
palace; it is a trendy and friendly place for two-legged
hipsters to get the latest haircut and to also buy
fun gifts.
Any shopping trip to the Meat Packing District should
include a stop at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week favorite
Carlos Miele's shop at 408 14th Street.
