This year has been the year of Timbaland.
It seems like a song isn’t a hit unless Timbaland
himself produces it. He has helped produce music
for everyone and their grandmothers and finally
we get to enjoy a cd full of them! With the appropriate
title, Shock Value, Timbaland does just
that, shocks his listeners.
Featured artists include Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake,
Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Fall Out Boy and to top it all
off Elton John. There are new artists featured on
the album as well, one in particular is Keri Hilson.
She appears in a couple of the tracks, and believe
me when I say watch out for this woman because she
can sing! Shock Value is different than
the normal collaboration by a famous producer and
an all-star group of singers. There is not one song
that sounds the same. The beats are classic Timbaland
style, but the music is completely unique than what
were are used to from him. He goes from hip hop,
to rap, to rock, to pop, to classic and he even
had time to throw in an Indian track. The beats
are powerful and the lyrics are moving. I’ve
been playing the cd in my car since the day it was
released and I have no plans of taking it out of
my cd player any time soon. Some of my favorite
tracks include: “Bounce,” “Scream,”
“Miscommunication,” “Time,”
“One and Only,” and “Two Man Show.”
If Shock Value isn’t a part of your
music collection, then you are truly missing out
on the genius known as Timbaland.
