Drenched in pink,
sparkle, glitter, and everything fabulous, the debut
of Blue Plate Couture by Seema and Blue Plate Accessories
had a successful launch party on August 22nd. The
Think Pink event was held in the Blue Plate Showroom
on Seventh Avenue and attracted a fashion-forward
crowd. The haute monde was buzzing about the attention
to detail, vibrant colors, and mega-watt shine in
the seemingly endless supply of gorgeous frocks.

commented, “I see a real need in the marketplace
for high end pieces at reasonable prices. Everything
in the Couture line is done by hand, and I strive
to offer gorgeous eveningwear to young, fashionable
women. My new line proves that you don’t have
to break the bank to look fabulous.” Indeed,
the interplay of patterns and bright hues certainly
caught the eye of everyone in attendance of the
launch party.

Blue Plate was founded
by Anand in 1994, and the newest line, Blue Plate
Couture by Seema, targets a more affluent customer
with price points between $200 - $400. The jewel
tone colors and infinite seduction of wonderluxe
pieces feature mini dresses. The frequent use of
sequins and charmeuse silk evokes a disco meets
glitterati sensibility.

different cultures inspired these designs.”
Anand commented that she reflected upon her travels
as she created this line that mixes Eastern and
Western textures, styles, and embroidery. Anand
further said, “When I started Blue Plate,
the focus was on couture. We branched out into other
areas, and now is the time to bring things full
circle and reintroduce the more specialized pieces.”
Anand says, “I
am extremely excited to be launching my own signature
line, Blue Plate Couture, as well as Blue Plate
Accessories. We have been very fortunate to enjoy
such success with Blue Plate, and look forward to
expanding and taking the brand to the next level.”
As Anand looks to the future, she says that she
plans to show in Fashion Week in India. The fashion
world waits with anticipation to watch the career
of this young designer expand to the throngs of
couture loving fashionistas.
