Abaete has built
a sophisticated reputation by continually showing
fresh collections that reflect youth, energy, and
glamour. This season the line jaunted off to Miami
for a sultry meets South Beach appeal. Inspired
by the forties, designer Laura Poretzky presented
thirty-one looks that ranged from bold art deco
color blocking to black and white patterns.
Abaete began showing in Bryant
Park in spring 2006 but it was the more recent Payless
connection that gave this line serious fame. The
beauty of this brand has repeatedly been the ability
to successfully address different emotional spaces
of the customer through fit, fabric, and design.
The execution of the Abaete spring 2008 collection
was flawless and it was the expert tailoring that
allowed for casual wear to be juxtaposed against
more mainstream accessories. This subversion actually
enhanced the line by creating a unique interplay
between different textures and materials. Overall
the line was clean, sharp, and smart with a welcomed
injection of affordable adornments.
