Short and sweet was the theme at Akiko Ogawa’s fashion show. Ogawa captured both the sensuality and vulnerability in women, creating one of the sexiest collections for next spring. Steering clear from the lengthy hemlines that dominated the runways during fashion week, this Japanese designer presented a collection consisting of short-layered skirts and biased-cut shirt dresses. Metallic foil shrugs and shimmering silver pullovers gave a futuristic feel to basic whites, and a sheer black chiffon dress was accented by fluttering oval scales. While Ogawa is a celebrated, award-winning designer in her native Japan, collections like this latest one will undoubtedly bring her to the forefront here in New York City.
