Creative director Christophe
Lemaire pays tribute to the brand, celebrating its
75th anniversary with the spring/summer 2008 collection.
The runway backdrop was staged as a game of “pelote
Basque,” a game played in Basque country in
southwestern France, home of Lacoste. The show started
off with a collection that features a larger off-white
crocodile logo. A key look for men includes a white
linen blazers and matching trousers with a pimento
red Basque belt. White halter dresses with pimento
red or black piping worn with platform espadrilles
and a mini tennis dress with wide pleats are key
looks for women.
The dominating white-colored
collection then switched to a nautical theme with
a lot of striped polos and dresses and swimsuits
in large polka dots and wide stripes. Marine signal
flag graphics can be seen on polos and rugbys.
The show concluded
with polos, polo dresses and swimwear in a bright
and colorful palette of yellow, orange green, blue
and pink. This season’s collection has a look
for every Lacoste lover, in white, faded pastels
or brights. Lacoste continues to modernize polo
shirts and dresses while delivering the brand’s
classic, sporty style.
