In the Cut
with TWINKLE by Wenlan
Many designers this season seem
to have forgotten that their collections are for
Spring 2008. The runways have been fraught with
lowered hemlines and drab colors. I am pleased to
report that Taipei native Wenlan Chia did not play
it safe with predictable fashion.
TWINKLE by Wenlan presented a
playful, feminine collection that was influenced
by relaxed glamour, seascapes and natural beauty.
Everything in the line felt effortless and easy-breezy.
It was the kind of collection you could envision
throwing on and always looking fabulous. Guests
were particularly responsive to the line because
it was clearly relateable to real life. The details
were so well thought out that each look was completed
with Manolo Blahnik footwear and sparkling baubles.
The majority of the adorable frocks
were designed with sophisticated cuts that were
enhanced by vintage wallpaper inspired prints and
simple color palettes. Criss-cross ties, a kimono
style dress, pleating, an asymmetrical collar, and
flutter sleeves were positively radiant on the runway.
The bubble style coat with oversized pockets really
added drama, and the playsuit was sheer brilliance.
Knits were casually mixed into
the collection and gave a pop of texture to elegant
silks, georgette, and cashmere. TWINKLE by Wenlan
has once again successfully redefined casual beauty
for the modern woman.
