Henri Bendel
has been a beacon to fashion since it first
debuted on the New York’s Fifth Avenue
fashion mile. One hundred fabulous years later
and at the height of New York’s fashion
week, Bendels celebrated the birthday of their
brown and white striped logo with a Birthday
Bash at Manhattan's Highline Ballroom.
According to Bendel's President Ed Bucciarelli:
“When Henri Bendel created the brown and
white stripe in 1907, he was ahead of his time
with regards to brand identity. In homage to
Mr. Bendel’s innovation, we invited some
of our favorite designers to reinterpret our
iconic stripe in both limited edition and one
of a kind product. They had carte blanche and
the results are fun, feminine, and fabulous,
in short what every Bendel’s girl wants.”
Many of these fashions were up for grabs in
a silent auction auction at the ball, the lists
filled up and the prices escalated because everyone
was eager to own a piece of the brown and white
history.
Highline Ballroom was filled with devoted Bendel's
fans including Kanye West and his designer fiancée
Alexis Phifer (whose designs were up for grabs
in the silent auction), R&B and pop singers
Mya and JoJo, 30 Rock’s Lonny
Ross, designers Loris Diran and Farah Angsana,
Christo of Christo Fifth Avenue and Gossip
Girl’s Taylor Momsen were all on
hand to celebrate the birthday of a truly hip
and fashionable establishment.
