3rd Annual CILA Awards Gala

The 3rd CILA (Contours International Lingerie Awards Gala) Gala was held on August 4, 2008 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. Contours, the leading international trade publication for the intimate apparel industry, hosts the annual gala honoring top talent, creativity and design.

Special guest Carson Kressley, host of Lifetime’s show How to Look Good Naked, was presented with the Recognition Award for Promoting Healthy Body Image Through the Media. Through a montage of TV clips from his show, Carson celebrates the beauty of women of all shapes and sizes, and emphasizes that you don’t need to be a size 0 to be healthy and beautiful.

Attendees enjoyed cocktails, a formal sit-down dinner and fashion show and awards presentation. Soak Wash sponsored the gift bags for all guests, which included a full size bottle and a variety of mini-soak single-use samples. Freshpair.com and top men’s underwear brands, Andrew Christian, Baskit and Papi contributed to Carson’s gift bag.

The awards presentation kicked off with the first ever Best Graduating Designer Award, which was presented to new talent and fashion graduate Jessica Ng, who was enrolled in New York Fashion Institute of Technology’s intimate apparel program. There were a few ties in which two winners were awarded, for Best Daywear, Best Fashion Couture and Best D+ Plus Lingerie.
