Freshpair.com celebrated its 6th Annual National Underwear Day on August 5, 2008 at Espace, with a runway show and cocktail party hosted by Lydia Hearst, the new face of Myla lingerie. Freshpair.com, internet retailer for men’s and women’s intimate apparel, is known for holding an annual runway show and celebration in Times Square, but opted for an exclusive event this year. A few hundred VIP guests enjoyed watching buff eye candy stroll down the square runway, sporting underwear brands such as Diesel, Sean John, 2(x)ist, baskit, Natori, DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger. Floor models happily greeted guests and took pictures with them on the platform as they entered the large venue. Some models were having a good time staying active in their underwear while playing Nintendo Wii. When polling male models on their favorite underwear brand, the majority of models hands down said Calvin Klein. When asked why, they said it was definitely the comfort and fit. Models also mentioned 2(x)ist and Diesel as their favorites.

Among attendees were hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, America’s Next Top Model judge Nolé Marin, designer Richie Rich, celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch and special guest Tyson Beckford. Sponsors included Soak, modern wash for fine fibers, who were giving away single-use samples and Pure Style Girlfriends, informing attendees of fashion solutions including bra inserts and an adhesive strapless shaping bra. Gift bag goodies included free underwear from participating brands such as Wacoal, Tommy Hilfiger and Go Softwear, Wigwam socks and a new edition of Hasbro, Inc.’s Operation game, with Cavity Sam wearing red and white polka dot boxers, complete with sound-effect ailments. Can’t wait to see what National Underwear Day has in store for us next year!
