Sanrio unveiled the first-ever
Sanrio Luxe retail space in the heart of Times
Square, right on West 42nd Street, between 7th
and 8th Avenues on November 11, 2008. The Sanrio
Luxe space carries upscale bling jewelry, leather
bags and gloves, cashmere scarves, luggage, shoes
and clothing in the $200+ price range. Sanrio
is no longer just for kids looking for stickers,
stationary and plush dolls. Sanrio Luxe now offers
a couture Hello Kitty presence, providing women
with a lavish kitty look.

Most of the guests
at the party grew up with Hello Kitty and
were happy to see Hello Kitty evolve into
a brand they can still relate to. Celebrity
guests included Lisa Loeb, Richie Rich, Tinsley
Mortimer and Lady Bunny, who was the event
DJ. Of course Hello Kitty herself was there,
decked out in a pretty kimono, mingling with
all the guests.
