Artist Jayson Atienza held an opening/reception at Studio 385 on October 23, 2008, to showcase timeless custom kicks and heels. Jayson has been applying his painting/illustration style of ink and watercolor to a variety of different “canvases” including apparel, handbags and kicks. Jayson’s sneakers were also featured in photographic art, shot by renowned photographers Benj Gershman, Leslie Lyons and Michael Greenberg. Batman, who was featured in some of the photographic art, was also in attendance sporting custom kicks of his own.

Jayson’s kicks have been picking up momentum in galleries and in the press, attracting high-profile clients such as Tiger Woods, David Lachapelle and Jeremy Piven. Jeremy Piven can be seen wearing a pair of custom kicks in Guy Ritchie’s new film RocknRolla. The sneakers have been featured in YRB, Slam, Kicksclusive and Shoes Up magazines. Jayson will also be appearing in Know You Got Sole!, Sean Williams’ upcoming sneaker documentary about NYC sneaker culture. The kicks are a walking work of art, custom-painted and one-of-a-kind, and a great way to infuse art with fashion.
