Designer Laura Poretzky
has a knack for designing clothing that is youthful,
energetic, and classic. The Fall 2008 collection
pulled in Brazilian and French sensibilities while
remaining true to the American crisp silhouettes
that have become the hallmark of this line. Most
of the looks were softly layered and draped with
knit separates that had a distinctly approachable
feeling.
A medieval feeling also permeated
much of the clothing through the use of pewter metal
detailing and midnight blue. Head knit wear toughened
up flowy frocks, while long socks and faux booties
were effortlessly sexy. The line definitely lived
in contrasts that created interesting subversions
of harmony. Poretzky showed movement in the dresses
with a Grecian flair. The final look, a one shoulder
dress in crinkle white chiffon, commanded attention,
and reflected the contrasting elements of the collection.
