And the beat
goes on!*
If it's Fashion Week,
it's Betsy Johnson time! And after much carrying
on from our fashion-writing staff ("Send Me!"
"Send Me!"), I snagged the invitation
(I am the editor).
Betsey Johnson puts
on one of the hottest fashion week shows and it
is certainly the most fun. And everyone seems to
have a blast - the audience, the models who rock
the runway and Betsey herself who ends each show
with her signature moves: cartwheels; dancing with
friends; and presenting her absolutely precious
granddaughter to the audience.
This year show had
a beatnik theme. The mood was set at the start of
the show by the presence of two bongo-playing musicians
at the head of the runway. Then the models strode
(danced) down the runway to a pulsing sound track.
There were the usual
club kids outfits (no one does it better) but there
was also a bit of something for everyone, including
some skull printed sheaths that would look great
on a whimsical baby boomer. Colorful thigh high
sock/stockings, look-at-me sunglasses and fish net
hose completed the looks.
Betsey Johnson! Still
and always the coolest kid in school!
