The Dennis Basso
Fall 2008 collection was firmly entrenched in luxe
layers of trapeze-inspired frocks, tunics and highly
dramatic gowns. Initially, the looks were structured
with movement and evoked an innocent sensibility
that was echoed in the light color palette. These
frothy layers created floaty shapes and mirrored
the softer side of sexy.
Fur was an intricate part
of this collection that reveled in posh, romantic
tailoring. The technical cuts used mink, fox, and
sable. The looks were super flattering with a polished
ease that quickly transitioned to a darker color
palette of black, gold, and brown. The body conscious
construction made the fur look lighter and decidedly
feminine. The understated gowns were the ideal dénouement
to such a glamorous show. The long, simple silhouettes
injected a bit of refinement and showed that Basso
knows how to exercise restraint alongside all-out
glamour.
