Malan Breton is a
most romantic designer and this year he took his
visionary inspiration from (quoted from the press
release):"the captivating dichotomies of the
characters played by Catherine Deneuve in her early
careers in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and
Belle de Jour.)
The line was created from natural
fibers such as silk and wool and had a perfect-for-a-well-bred
socialite vibe. The colors were classics: black,
cream, sapphire, "cloud" green and ruby
red. Malan has recently expanded his line to include
some sharp looking (and roomy) handbags.
Malan Breton's designs would look stunning on Hollywood
stars such as indie favorite Martha Plimpton (who
was in the audience) and Michelle Williams (who
has a knack for wearing classic clothing with a
contemporary flair).
Malan's Fall of 2008 (held on February 6, 2008)
was his first foray into the tents and the audience
was filled with raving Malan fans who were thrilled
to see him there. Malan's journey from auffed Project
Runway contestant to his triumphant showing
at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is a story that has
touched many. While I was waiting for the show to
start, everyone I spoke with said the same thing:
"I adore Malan." Ditto.
