Inspired by the fictitious love child of David Bowie and the unconventional romances of Stevie Nicks, Phillp Lim dazzled the audience with a groundbreaking Fall 2008 collection lection that embraced color, texture, flow, and movement. Lim’s clothing was sexy and sheer. Lim brought back sheer hosiery, a bold move away from the prevalent opaque tights gracing the runway of most designers.

There was a sense of modesty with lowered hemlines and elegant satin. Boxy jackets and loose fitting cardigans showed versatility; the looks felt particularly grown-up. The serious mood permeated all of the clothing and showed Lim’s growth as a designer.
