The key to any art
is who you are when you see it.
Designer Rad Hourani has a unique
spy glass focused on the world of fashion that has
given him a novel point of view. He was born in
Jordan and relocated to Montreal as a teen where
he then began working as a stylist and then in his
twenties began developing his own line of clothing.
And the influence of the old and new Montreal and
ancient Jordan is evident in the designs. The clothes
are tough, asexual and beautiful in the way that
modern art is a beautiful reinterpretation of old
themes. These are designs that are destined to sell
at Barney's and be displayed at MoMA.
At the Rad Hourani Fall 2008 show,
his models strode down the runway to a cover of
the Rolling Stones "Paint It Black." And
black they were, ninja black with one red head-to-toe-outfit
to supply the paprika. Bravo!
Here is a quote from Rad regarding
his vision from the Rad Hourani website, radhourani.com.
