On December 22,
2007, Al Sharpton held at rally at the House of
Justice to protest the possible change in venue
of the trial of the police officers who fatally
shot Sean Bell and wounded his friends (Trent
Benefield and Joseph Guzman) as he was leaving
his bachelor party on the eve of his wedding.
The police officer's were working an undercover
drug sting operation at the same club that Sean
and his friends were holding their bachelor party.
On hand for the
rally were Sean Bell's fiancée, Nicole
Paultre-Bell and Trent Benefield and Joseph Guzman,
who were wounded in the same incident. All were
protesting the possible change of venue with the
mantra that since the crime occurred in Queens,
the trial needs to be in Queens. And it only takes
one look at the too-old-eyes of baby Trent Benefield
Jr. to realize that something needs to be done
right now to change our world.
