Lucy Lives
New York City might
be moving forward, but the Ports 1961 Resort 2008
Collection shown at the Ports headquarters in
Chelsea on June 5, 2008, was firmly entrenched
in the past, a past filled with vintage glamour.
The models "walked the runway" on the
Ports Patio in front of a fashion-forward crowd
filled with editors, socialites and everyone fabulous.
The Collection, designed by Ports creative director
Tia Cibani, fused classic shapes with modern luxury
to celebrate and give a fresh perspective to an
idealized American dream. Funny lady Lucille Ball
served as the muse for Cibani's The Good Life
collection, a collection that reflected Lucy's
whimsical point-of-view mixed with a twist of
irony.
The clothing line
featured delicate proportions. The gingham Capri
pants and romper-styled playsuits looked particularly
feminine. Bows, brocades, and high waists further
enhanced the nostalgic and girly sensibility.
The line was put
together with gorgeous retro-looking hats and
bamboo accessories. Much like the iconic femme
fatales of the 1950’s, every detail evoked
feelings of happiness and optimism. Ports 1961
lady-like silhouettes definitely captured the
spirit of The Good Life.
