NewFest is upon us once again
and the program this year looks like quite the exciting
and eclectic one.
Last year’s Fest featured
two remarkable films: Eytan Fox’s powerful
The Bubble, which was released shortly
after it’s Newfest showing and Robert Cary’s
Save Me, which has yet to receive a commercial
release—which is really sad since it’s
an amazing movie.

Stewart Wade’s Tru
Loved
This year opens with Stewart Wade’s
Tru Loved and closes with Were the
World Mine, directed by Tom Gustafson.
Some new additions to this year’s
programming include the John Outcalt NewFest Lounge,
located at the HK Lounge (523 Ninth Avenue at 39th
Street), where filmmakers and audience members can
shmooze and booze. Also new to the Fest this year
is the NewDraft Screenplay Competition & Reading
Series.
NewFest will take place from June
5-15 and will be hosted by AMC Loews 34th Street
Theater (312 W 34th St. at 8th Ave). Full program,
schedule, and ticketing information is available
online at www.newfest.org.
