Cheetah Outreach
held a fashion show/benefit in support of conservation
of cheetahs and other big cats on April 18,2008
at Industria Superstudio. Three fashion designers
were featured: Tanuka Ghosh; Soyoon Elly Park and
Wakana Koike (a student at FIT). Also on display
was a selection of abstract paintings featuring
green hues and animal prints. The art was also on
sale with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Cheetah
Outreach. The evening also boasted an auction which
included African safaris, animal inspired sunglasses
by Mercura NYC, animal photographs signed by establish
photographers and a special Cheetah Outreach photo
journal .
The clothing was exuberant and
fun. Wakana Koike showed a line of resort clothing
that would be perfect for a trip to Jamaica. Designer
Tanukah Ghosh showed a line of party dresses and
"party pants" with Edwardian accents accessorized
by Mercura NYC sunglasses. And designer Soyoon Elly
Park had a lot of fun designing a whimsical and
sophisticated line from a palette of black and white
inspired by the African big five (leopard, lion, rhinocero, elephant, buffalo).
Models wore shoes from Yosi Samra collection.
The event was produced by April Davis, Linda Drabova
and Dawn Belotti. For more information log onto:cheetah.co.za
