MyItThings.com held a runway show at Lotus Space on October 15, 2008, as each of the top three finalists of the “It” Designer Contest showcased their best five looks for Spring/Summer 2009. The competing designers included Chicago’s Nora del Busto, NYC’s Wakana Koike and Las Vegas’ Adolfo Sanchez.

Adolfo Sanchez incorporates sheer cotton, silk, chiffon, feathers and soft wools woven with silk in his designs, with colors in soft earth tones, caramels and soft pinks.

Nora Del Busto is inspired by traditional Peruvian costume, feminine with bold, vibrant colors – fuchsia, turquoise and purple in silk fabrics.

Wakana Koike is inspired by ropes, ships, seagulls and the ocean. The printed palette includes blue skies, white clouds, yellow sunsets and red stripes. Koike uses silk and cotton canvas fabrics.

The “It” Designer Contest ran from May 12, 2008 through July 15, 2008 on
MyItThings.com . Over 300 contestants had submitted five of their best looks, which received nearly 100,000 online votes. Each of the three finalists have been awarded $1,500 to work on their Spring 2009 collection.

The final winner was chosen by a combined vote – 50% by the MyItThings.com community and 50% by an all-star panelist of judges. The judging panel included Project Runway alum Malan Breton, Life & Style’s former editor-in-chief Sheryl Berk, Nathan Cooper of C Magazine, designer expert Greg Littley, style expert
Hitha Prabhakar and Yuli Ziv, editor-in-chief/co-founder of MyItThings.com.

Designer Kathlin Argiro served as the finalists’ mentor.

And the winner is…..Wakana Koike! Koike receives a $5,000 Grand Prize, and an exclusive collection sale on MyItThings.com.

A portion of the proceeds from the event goes to charity Fashion Delivers, which provides products from the fashion industries to victims of natural disasters.
