The Erin Fetherston Spring 2009
collection was the epitome of flawless beauty and
ethereal innocence. Entitled, “East of the
Sun and West of the Moon,” the clothing reflected
Fetherston’s interpretation of the New York
and Parisian skylines. The designer drew from her
own experiences to create a collection that literally
floated down the runway. Cloud inspired garments
and asymmetrical cuts were saturated in organza,
georgette, boucle, chiffon, rainbow washes, opalescent
sequins, and tiers of ombre.
The light color palette
set the tone for a transporting experience that
sent show-goers to a land of fairy tale perfection.
The lime twilight ombre tiered cloud dress and gathered
lilac organza cloud hem dress were standout pieces
that existed in a delicious bubble of flouncy-bohemia
. Fetherston even gave running shorts a delicate
sensibility with boucle and a sunburst print. The
hair was slicked back with natural makeup that kept
the looks youthful and fresh. This styling placed
emphasis on the clothing and further cemented the
show as the official return to pretty for Spring
2009.
