Spring 2009: Colorful Boho Chic Ease
Geren Ford’s Spring 2009
collection gave off an 80s vibe with its colorful
palette and big hair, but the collection also had
a modern edge. The show was held at the Bowery Hotel,
with models standing on square blocks, allowing
the guests to view each look closely and in its
entirety, rather than squirming in their seats in
a runway presentation from third row or beyond.
Pops of yellow, fuschia,
teal and orange paired with black, grey or white
in loose silhouettes create a confident, boho chic
ease. Tanks, pleated skirts, open back Ts, ruffle
neck tops, paperbag shorts and seamed capris signified
a cohesive collection in lightweight silks. The
carefree dresses, whether they were pleated, open
back, halter or tank style, would look good on any
body type. Colorful solid and print bangles, wicker
clutches and grey loosely fit ankle socks worn with
patent leather sandals accessorized the looks. The
accessory must-have has to be the long silky dog
print scarves in an array of colors – yellow,
teal, grey or royal blue. The models showed the
versatility of the scarves, wearing it around their
neck, draped, double wrapped, lowly knotted or tied,
or worn as a hairband. Guests were very excited
to receive one of these scarves in their gift bags,
and couldn’t wait to sport it!
