The American Cancer Society’s Asian Initiatives
Unit hosted a Young Professionals Gala for Hope
at Taj on Feburary 5, 2009. The honorees for the
evening were talented clothing designer Zang Toi
and June Jee, a director at Verizon. The designer
was surrounded by a bevy of pagent darlings like
Miss USA and Miss Universe, both of whom were
magnificently draped in Zang's designs. All around
the club were product displays of goodies for
the silent auction. Heavenly dessert samples were
provided by Tawny Ong. There were many awesome
guests in attendance including Kevin Kim who will
be running for Congressman in Queens next year.
Mr. Kim noted that he was interested in diversifing
the borough, integrationg the old residents with
the new influx of Queens residents. Toward the
end of the evening, Lei Pasifika performed a traditional
Polynesian dance which was so well recived by
the audience they joined in. Taj was abuzz all
evening and it was all for a good cause.
