One of the most anticipated
fashion shows at the Mercedes Benz Fall 2009 Show,
was the THIS DAY / ARISE MAGAZINE Magazine African
Fashion Collective. This Day, a Nigerian newspaper,
hosted the show to launch Arise Magazine. Here is
a quote from allAfrica.com
about the launch of ARISE:
"The prestigious
Merc-edes Benz Fashion Week in New York will host
the launch of THISDAY's ARISE magazine at the Bryant
Park Tents and showcase the designs of an African
fashion collective: Xuly Bet of Mali, Stoned Cherrie
of South Africa, MOMO and Tiffany Amber of Nigeria.
The launch of ARISE, which is the first global style
and culture magazine dedicated to African achievement,
music, business and politics will be one of the
highlights of the week-long show."
New York Cool's Katherin
Wermke was present at the show and took these images.
We are unable to tag all the actual designers under
the images at this time, but looking at the images
definitely makes me want to know more about the
individual designers.
